This photo shows another view of the Wooden Bridge as seen in the distance, going north along the main road into Fall City, now Preston-Fall City Road. This appears to be the same era as the previous photo, as the sign is visible at the entrance to the bridge. The fences along the road again may indicate the passage of cattle drives along this road. [Five postcards from donor's collection were shared to scan.]

This undated photo by Frank Howell shows the Fall City Wooden Bridge, the first bridge across the Snoqualmie River at Fall City. It was first completed in the fall of 1889 but fell in 1900 and was rebuilt. It was 350 feet long, an amazing span for a wooden bridge, and 16 feet wide. This photo may have been before it was rebuilt, as it appears less "strong" than POS003. [Five postcards from donor's collection were shared to scan.]

This undated photo shows the first concrete bridge over the Snoqualmie River, looking north. This bridge was 18 ft wide and opened for use in 1917. It became one of the important links between Western and Eastern Washington, and during WWI was guarded by armed Civilian Defense personnel. The bridge was replaced in 1980, even 'though it remained sound, because of increases both in vehicle size and traffic levels. [Five postcards from donor's collection were shared to scan.]

35mm slides taken of Fall City by Jack Kelley. - 35mm slides taken of Fall City by Jack Kelley. 1980 - The building of the second (and current) concrete bridge, and the tearing down of the first one, which served from 1917 to 1980. One especially good slide showing the still intact first bridge, with the main pillars of the new bridge, so one can tell the relative positions.

Art & Bernie Howe on Swinging Bridge - Scan of photo (returned to donor) of swinging bridge, built by her father Art Howe and Reuben Tarr. Notes on back read: A walkway was built on the upriver side of the bridge as it was a fairly tight squeeze for some people to stand on the only place to stand and hand on to the railing. But there was no good way to get to the walkway! Art and Bernie Howe with Della Bovard (mother's cousin) and her daughter Jane. Della's car light shows in the foreground.
