Julius McCurry military service medals and King County Deputy Sheriff badge. A scanned copy of the medals has been placed in the documents folder located in C5-6. No dates given. Please see the attached multimedia file in the 2009-020.001 record for more information regarding Duke's military service. a1- Small medal with blue background, gold trim and a leaf in the center of the medal. a2- Small, multicolored bar. a3- Large multicolored bar. a4- Metal pin with eagle and airplane propeller motif and attached chevron-shaped stripes. a5- Metal pin with a cross and wreath motif and attached marksmanship ranks of Rifle, Grenade and Expert. a6- Metal belt buckle with eagle and airplane propeller motif. a7- Lapel medal with a red ribbon. Medallion is inscribed with the motto, "Efficiency, Honor, Fidelity," and contains a heraldic eagle. 2b- King County Deputy Sheriff badge with badge number 1140. Duke was not part of the Sheriff's department, but was a volunteer firefighter in FC. As noted in the memory book on p. 133, "Volunteer firemen were often deputized by the King County Sheriff's office to help with local problems." |
