Description |
Flag, American: cotton viscose or linen - fabric is open weave, gauzy, and rough. Made up of 13 alternating red and white stripes, top-stitched upon each other, and a blue field with 48 stars appliqued to both sides. Canvas binding at one side of flag, with metal grommets for hanging. There were originally a metal clasp tied with twine at the top grommet, and a black shoestring tied to the lower grommet - to be used in hanging the flag. Both the metal clasp and shoestring have been removed and housed separately, as they are made of material that may damage the fabric. The flag is so delicate that it seems to have been meant for occasional decorative or ceremonial use. Appears to be handmade. Dimensions: 67 in x 36 in approx. (textile has uneven edges) |
