WWI, Perry Burns' transport home |
Description |
Documents relating to the trip home by Perry Burns after demobilization from WWI. - "Ticket" on U.S.S. Pocahontas, Navy Transport Vessel - "The Tomahawk" July 26, 1919,(newsletter) of U.S.S. Pocahontas, with list of units being transported, including the 44th Balloon Company. There is a section on the War Record of the U.S.S. Pocahontas, including accounts of encountering German submarines on two trips in 1918. Also includes humorous writings. - A postcard sent to Perry Burns' mother with printed message: THE SHIP ON WHICH I SAILED HAS ARRIVED SAFELY OVERSEAS, with Perry F. Burns, 44 Balloon Co. No date is given. Since the 44th Balloon Co. was Perry's last tour of duty in Europe, it seems likely that this was notification in fact of his safe arrival in New York. |
