Eight newspaper columns entitled FALLS CITY RIPPLE and signed VENUS. Source unknown. Pasted in a scrapbook (the backs of record pages for Masonic activities) by Caroline Parmelee. Appear to be in order by date, though no dates listed. 1 - Lists commencement exercises in Fall City School, May 18, 1900. Six graduates, listed with their parts in the program. Lydia Parker, Florence Bonell, George Rutherford, W. Stephenson, Elmer Parker, Everett Howell... others from the community also particpated. Also: "The bridge crew has the fallen bridge nearly out of the river." 2 - "The Raging River bridge gang has to lay off last Friday on account of not having the right material." and later "Mr. McDougal the bridge foreman, worked until dark Sunday night..." NOTE: the bridge over the Snoqualmie River at Fall City fell in Spring 1900. The railroad trestle over the Raging River also fell in 1900. 3 - Mentions extending the S.&I. railway east from the Raging River. 4 - Two mentions of "the freight train"... 5 - "The Raging River trestle is very near completed...." 6 - Mention of Fourth of July picnic, spoiled by rain. 7 - "The Raging River bridge (trestle?) is now completed..." 8 - "The S.&I. passenger train came puffing up the track on Tuesday evening..." |
