A three-page letter from donor's mother about living on Kodiak Island through the 1964 earthquake in Alaska. (Note from donor: my parents moved to Alaska in 1950 or 1951, and I was born in 1953 in Kodiak, while it was still a territory. My parents homesteaded a beautiful piece of ocean view property on Kodiak Island, where they lived until they moved to Fall City in about 1998. After the 1964 earthquake, my Dad spent the next 40 years fighting the sea to protect the land our house sat on from washing away.
